Description

Mint-Orange Bread

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour 20 oz
  • Salt to taste
  • Milk 10 fl oz
  • Chocolate eggs 3 pieces
  • Sugar 0 oz
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Dry yeast 0 oz
  • Mint 1 bunch
  • Oranges 2 pieces
  • Cointreau 1 tablespoon

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Pour the milk into a saucepan, add the mint, bring to a boil, and let it steep for 1 hour. Then strain and warm it to body temperature. Mix the orange zest with the liqueur.

Step 2

Rub the yeast into the flour until it forms fine crumbs. Then rub in the butter, add salt, sugar, and then 2 eggs, mint milk, and liqueur. Knead the dough and let it rise, covered, for 1 hour.

Step 3

Lightly grease the baking pan with butter.

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 480°F.

Step 5

On a floured surface, divide the dough into 2 parts, shape into loaves, and place on a baking sheet lined with a towel and dusted with flour, seam side down. Brush the surface of the loaves with an egg beaten with salt and let them dry. Cover the loaves with a towel and let rise for 1.5 hours.

Step 6

Brush the dough again and make cuts with scissors at a 45-degree angle.

Step 7

Spray the oven walls with water from a spray bottle, reduce the temperature to 410°F, place the loaves in the oven, and bake for 2 minutes. Then lower the temperature to 390°F and bake for another 20 to 30 minutes.
