Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Milk 0 fl oz
- Vanillin a pinch
- Salt a pinch
- Chicken Egg ½ pieces
- Baking Powder 1 tablespoon
- Whole egg 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare the milk syrup. In a saucepan, add sugar and pour in the milk (40 ml). Place it over medium heat and stir with a spatula until the sugar dissolves.
Step 2
Remove the saucepan from the heat, add the butter or margarine, and stir until dissolved. Let the mixture cool.
Step 3
Mix the flour with the baking powder.
Step 4
Add the egg, salt, and vanilla to the cooled milk mixture and mix well.
Step 5
Add half of the flour to the milk mixture and stir. Then add the remaining flour and mix again with a spatula to avoid lumps. The result should be a thick, soft, and pliable dough.
Step 6
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and gather it into a ball with your hands.
Step 7
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour.
Step 8
Take the dough out and roll it out on a floured surface to a thickness of 7–8 mm.
Step 9
Use a round cutter to cut out the dough rounds (it's best to dust the cutter with flour as the dough is quite sticky) and carefully transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper using a spatula.
Step 10
Mix the remaining milk with the egg yolk and brush the mixture over the surface of the cakes.
Step 11
Use a fork to create a grid pattern on the dough rounds.
Step 12
Bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 390°F for 10–12 minutes.
