Meringue Pie 'Easy and Quick'
Baking and Desserts • Circassian
Description
This recipe is very simple and quick!
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Sugar 10 oz
- Chicken Egg 2 pieces
- Jam 5 teaspoons
- Butter 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Dough: gently warm the butter until it's soft (you can simply leave it out of the fridge for an hour). Add one cup of flour (about 250 g) and 1/2 cup of sugar, or a little less (100-120 g), to the butter. Then separate the egg whites (into a separate bowl) from the yolks; add the yolks to the dough and mix everything thoroughly.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 355°F. Place the dough on a baking sheet or any baking dish, and press it out with your hands to form an even layer (there's no need to grease the baking sheet since the dough contains butter). Leave slightly raised edges of dough around the sides to prevent the jam from spilling over. The pie is sweet, so I prefer to use sour jam or berries, but you can use any flavor you like; I usually choose cranberries or plums. Spread the jam over the dough in a layer about 0.5 to 1 cm thick. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
Step 3
While the pie is in the oven, take the reserved egg whites, add the remaining sugar, and whip them until you achieve a meringue of a creamy white color (well-beaten meringue should resemble foam, with no visible sugar crystals). After 30 minutes, remove the pie from the oven, spread a smooth layer of meringue on top, and return it to the oven for another 10 minutes. Enjoy your meal!
