Lentil Pâté
Snacks • Caucasian
Description
This recipe is adapted from a popular vegan cookbook. It's easiest to mimic a meat pâté using regular lentils. The color is much more convincing than that of bean pâté. The meaty flavor comes from miso paste, which is commonly found in the Japanese sections of supermarkets for making popular miso soup. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend. If the gadget struggles, add a little clean filtered water, but do so carefully to avoid making the pâté too runny. Serve the finished dish with vegetable sticks, crackers, crispbreads, or thinly sliced gluten-free rye bread.
Ingredients
- Green Lentils 5 oz
- Garlic 1 clove
- Miso Paste 1 tablespoon

- Shallot 0 oz

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cook the lentils until tender according to the package instructions.
Step 2
Mince the garlic using a garlic press (not all blenders can handle this task).
Step 3
Chop the shallot and sauté it in olive oil until golden brown, then let it cool.
Step 4
In a blender cup, combine the lentils, garlic, miso paste, olive oil, and sautéed shallot along with the oil from the pan. Blend everything until smooth. If necessary, add a little water. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and blend again.
