Ingredients
- Rice 10 oz
- Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon
- Toasted Cumin Seeds a pinch
- Yellow Mustard Seeds a pinch
- Ground Cinnamon a pinch
- Mild Chili Spice 1 piece
- Water 15 fl oz
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric a pinch
- Meyer Lemon Juice 2 tablespoons
- Butter 0 oz
- Lemon 1 piece
- Parsley 1 bunch
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Rinse the rice in cold water and soak for 15 minutes. Drain in a colander.
Step 2
Meanwhile, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat, add cumin, mustard seeds, cinnamon, and chopped chili pepper to the pot.
Step 3
Add the drained rice to the pot.
Step 4
Fry the rice, stirring, for 3–4 minutes.
Step 5
When the grains become transparent, pour in boiling salted water and stir for 1 minute.
Step 6
Cover the pot, reduce the heat, and cook without stirring for 20 minutes, until the rice absorbs all the water.
Step 7
Remove the lid, drizzle with lemon juice, and add the butter. Cook uncovered for another 2–3 minutes.
Step 8
Turn off the heat and fluff the mixture with a fork.
Step 9
Serve each portion with a slice of lemon and a sprig of parsley.
