Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour 5 oz
  • Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
  • Powdered Sugar 5 oz
  • Butter 5 oz
  • Lemon 2 pieces
  • Egg white 1 piece
  • Whole egg 2 pieces
  • Buttermilk 5 fl oz
  • Poppy seed paste 2 tablespoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 355°F.

Step 2

In a bowl, sift together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Then add the butter and whisk. The mixture should resemble bread crumbs.

Step 3

In another bowl, whisk together the grated lemon zest, whole egg, egg yolks, and buttermilk. Add this to the flour mixture while whisking continuously. Then add the poppy seeds and transfer the mixture to a baking pan. Bake for 45 minutes.

Step 4

To check if the cake is done, insert a toothpick: if it comes out clean, the cake is ready.

Step 5

Mix the lemon juice and sugar and drizzle over the hot cake, then cut the cake into squares.
