Description

Well, that's basically it. The cake turns out tall (mine is 7 cm high with a 26 cm diameter mold; if I hadn't cut the middle of the chocolate layer, it would have been even taller), hearty, and very, very delicious. Give it a try!

Ingredients

  • Margarine 15 oz
  • Sugar 2 cups
  • Cocoa Powder 2 tablespoons
  • Farm fresh eggs 6 pieces
  • Baking Powder 0 oz
  • Wheat Flour 4 cups
  • Sour Cream 7 tablespoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

For the chocolate batter (250 g melted margarine, 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 3 eggs, 1 cup flour, 3 tablespoons sour cream, 1 teaspoon baking soda) — mix all the ingredients (the batter will be like pancake batter) and bake one layer. Bake in a parchment-lined mold in a preheated oven at 180-200°C. Check readiness with a toothpick. Cool the layer and cut it in half.

Step 2

For the white batter (200 g margarine, 2.5 cups flour, 2 egg yolks, 2 tablespoons sour cream) — rub the soft margarine with sour cream and the yolks.

Step 3

For the meringue layer (2 egg whites, 1 cup sugar, 2 cups nuts) — beat the egg whites with sugar and mix with the nuts.

Step 4

Divide the white batter into 4 parts, roll out 4 layers, spread with meringue, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C until the egg whites dry (7-10 minutes each). Here, I will deviate from the author's words and share my experience. The thing is, the white layers may not bake properly under the meringue, so I baked the white layer until half-done, then spread the whipped egg whites and continued baking.

Step 5

For the buttercream — beat 300 g of butter with 1 can of sweetened condensed milk.

Step 6

For the sour cream frosting — beat 500 g of sour cream with 1 cup of sugar, add vanilla.

Step 7

Assemble the cake: - chocolate layer - sour cream frosting - - white layer with meringue up - buttercream - - white layer with meringue down - sour cream frosting - - white layer with meringue up - buttercream - - white layer with meringue down - sour cream frosting - - chocolate layer. The recipe provides enough frosting just for coating the layers, so you can make your favorite frosting to cover the top and sides, or cover it with fondant, as you wish.
