Kissel Cake
Baking and Desserts • Turkish
Description
You will need 1 pack of kissel — 180 grams.
Ingredients
- Sour Cream 5 tablespoons
- Chicken Egg 3 pieces
- Sugar ½ cup
- Wheat Flour 1 cup
- Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
- Salt 1⅖ teaspoons
- Meyer Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon
- Activated Baking Soda 1⅖ teaspoons
- Butter 5 oz
- Kissel to taste
- Vanilla salt 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Mix the flour with baking soda and baking powder and sift into a bowl. Separate the eggs into whites and yolks. Beat the butter with sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy, then add the yolks while continuing to beat, followed by the sour cream, and continue to beat. Then add the crumbled kissel and beat well until the kissel is completely dissolved.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with salt and lemon juice until stiff peaks form.
Step 3
Then add the egg whites to the sour cream and butter mixture and mix. Gradually add the flour and mix well until the mixture is homogeneous.
Step 4
Preheat the oven to 355°F (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Grease a loaf pan or small molds with butter. Pour the batter into the pan or fill the small molds halfway, as the batter will rise.
Step 5
Bake for about 30 minutes, checking for doneness with a wooden skewer.
Step 6
Cool the cake in the pan, then turn it out onto a wire rack, running a knife around the edge of the pan to carefully remove it. Allow the cake to cool completely.
