Kazakh Flatbreads (Bauyrsaq)
Ingredients
- Kefir 10 fl oz
- Water 15 fl oz
- Salt a pinch
- Dry yeast 10 oz
- Vegetable Oil 10 fl oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Wheat Flour 20 oz
- Butter 10 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Dissolve the yeast in warm water. Add a pinch of salt and sugar to taste.
Step 2
Melt the butter, let it cool, and add it to the dough. Mix well. You can also add kefir or milk.
Step 3
Add enough flour to make a non-sticky dough. Knead, greasing your hands with vegetable oil. Leave to rise, covered with a kitchen towel.
Step 4
Then roll out small flatbreads with a rolling pin and cut the bauyrsaq into medium or large cubes.
Step 5
Fry in a large bowl in sunflower oil until golden brown.
