Italian Pie 'Mantovana'

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour 5 oz
  • Butter 5 oz
  • Sugar 5 oz
  • Whole egg 3 pieces
  • Chicken Egg 1 piece
  • Citrus Zest Mix 1 piece
  • Chopped almonds 5 oz
  • Salt a pinch
  • Powdered Sugar to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

In a bowl, mix softened butter with sugar, egg yolks, and the whole egg.

Step 2

Add flour, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.

Step 3

Place the resulting mixture into a round baking pan previously greased with butter and dusted with flour.

Step 4

Crush the almonds using a food processor or a knife. Almond slices can also be used. Sprinkle on top of the pie.

Step 5

Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for 40 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.

Step 6

Sprinkle the finished pie with powdered sugar through a sieve to taste.
