Irish Soup (Drunken Sailor)
Soups • Irish
Description
Instead of whiskey, you can add 1 tablespoon of brandy. In the recipe, I omitted FROZEN GREEN PEAS, but you can add them in step 6 (300 g). Overall, the soup turned out very tasty and hearty even without the peas.
Ingredients
- Lamb 15 oz
- Salad Potatoes 10 oz
- Carrot 1 piece
- Chicken Broth 0 qt
- Butter 0 oz
- Passata Tomato Sauce 3 tablespoons
- Herbs 1 bunch
- Wheat Flour 1 tablespoon
- Bay leaf 3 pieces
- Irish Whiskey 5 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Take the lamb and cut it into fairly large pieces. Place it in a pan with melted butter and fry over high heat until browned.
Step 2
Transfer the meat to a deep cast-iron pot and pour in the broth, previously diluted with the tomato paste.
Step 3
Add the sliced onion and bay leaves. Cook over medium heat with the lid on for 10 minutes.
Step 4
Meanwhile, cut the potatoes and carrot into small cubes or any other preferred shape.
Step 5
After the specified 10 minutes, add them to the soup. Season with salt and pepper to taste and continue cooking for another 20 minutes.
Step 6
Add half of the chopped herbs to the soup, bring to a boil, and cook for another 10 minutes, after which remove from heat and take out the bay leaves.
Step 7
In the finished soup, add 20 g of butter mixed with flour, and 100 ml of whiskey. Serve the soup in bowls and sprinkle with the remaining herbs.
