Indian Sweets Made from Chickpeas and Dried Fruits
Baking and Desserts • Indian
Description
The result is an 'assortment'. The 'candies' have a texture reminiscent of potato cake, but are even more delicate. The flavor is dominated by figs with a subtle aftertaste of brandy.
Ingredients
- Honey 1 tablespoon
- Toasted Sesame 3 tablespoons
- Chickpea 5 oz
- Dried Apricots 8 pieces
- Green Figs 8 pieces
- Brandy 1 tablespoon
- Cocoa Powder 3 tablespoons
- Cinnamon to taste
- Powdered Sugar to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Soak the chickpeas in water overnight. Soak the dried fruits (apricots, figs) in brandy. If children will be eating, soak them in any juice.
Step 2
In the morning, rinse the chickpeas and boil them. Pass all the ingredients (chickpeas, figs, apricots) through a meat grinder. The ingredients should be approximately equal in quantity.
Step 3
Add 1 tablespoon of honey to the resulting mixture and mix well. You will get a fragrant, pliable mass.
Step 4
Form the mixture into balls. The mass is easy to mold. The main difficulty is not eating them right away. You will get about 25 balls the size of a walnut. The mixture is very tasty; you will definitely lick the spoon.
Step 5
Roll the formed balls in coatings of your choice. I had several options: a mixture of cocoa and cinnamon, ground nuts, sesame seeds, powdered sugar. Choose according to your preference.
