Ingredients
- Butter 5 oz
- Sugar ½ cup
- Egg white 1 piece
- Baking Powder ½ teaspoon
- Lemon 1 piece
- Wheat Flour 3 cups
- Powdered Sugar 1½ cups
- Red Food Coloring to taste
- Nuts 1 cup
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Chop the nuts in a blender. Grate the zest of the lemon. Squeeze the juice separately.

Mix the flour, nuts, baking powder, a pinch of salt, and lemon zest.
Step 3
Cream the softened butter with sugar and the egg. Then add the nut mixture. Knead into a soft dough. Add more flour if necessary.
Step 4
Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes. Then shape small horseshoes. Bake them until golden brown.
Step 5
Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the powdered sugar and mix. It should form a thick, homogeneous mass. Color it with food coloring and apply it to the finished cookies.
