Ingredients
- Butter 10 oz
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Baking Powder 0 oz
- Salt a pinch
- Vanilla extract 0 fl oz
- Sugar 10 oz
- Chicken Egg 4 pieces
- Milk 5 fl oz
- Red Food Coloring to taste
- Yellow Sugar to taste
- Powdered Sugar 10 oz
- Meyer Lemon Juice 5 teaspoons
- Pastry decorations to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 355°F. Generously grease a small baking tray with butter and dust it with flour.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine the flour with the baking powder and salt.
Step 3
Using a mixer, beat the softened butter with vanilla extract and sugar in a bowl. Add the eggs one at a time, then alternately mix in the milk and flour, thoroughly combining each time.
Step 4
Divide the dough in half and color each half with one of the two food colorings.
Step 5
Place the colored batter into piping bags fitted with a large tip and pipe wide stripes onto a baking sheet, alternating the colors. (If you don't have piping bags, you can use freezer bags instead, cutting off the tip.)
Step 6
Bake in a preheated oven for 25–30 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the center of the pie; if it comes out clean, remove the pie from the oven. Otherwise, bake for a little longer. Let it cool completely on the baking sheet.
Step 7
Meanwhile, for the glaze, thoroughly mix the powdered sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl and evenly spread it over the cooled cake. Smooth out the glaze, sprinkle colorful sugar decorations on top, and let it sit for half an hour before serving to allow the glaze to set.
