Guatemalan Tortillas
Ingredients
- Onion 1 head
- Lean Beef 20 oz
- Garlic 6 cloves
- Mild Chili Spice 1 piece
- Canned Corn 5 oz
- Pitted olives 1 can
- Tortillas 6 pieces
- Crushed Tomatoes in Their Own Juice 1 can
- Cheese Spread 5 oz
- 20% Sour Cream 5 oz
- Tomatoes 2 pieces
- Avocado 1 piece
- Salt to taste
- Iceberg Lettuce 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Place the ground beef in a skillet and sauté over medium heat, adding the onion and garlic. Stir occasionally, sautéing for 5 minutes until softened.
Step 2
Drain the juice from the tomatoes, chop them into small pieces, and add to the skillet.
Step 3
Add the chopped chili pepper, corn, salt, and sliced olives. Continue cooking over medium heat for 10–15 minutes.
Step 4
Place the tortillas in a clean skillet, sprinkle with grated cheese, top with the meat mixture, fold in half, and fry on both sides.
Step 5
Make the sauce. Peel the tomatoes, chop them into small pieces. Mash the avocado into a puree and mix it with the tomatoes.
Step 6
Place the tortillas on a plate, add lettuce leaves beside them, and pile the sour cream and the avocado-tomato mixture on top.
