Gingerbread Cookies with Five Spices
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 2 cups
- Salt ¼ teaspoon
- Chinese Five Spice 1¾ teaspoons
- Activated Baking Soda 1½ teaspoons
- Candied fruits 5 oz
- Sugar 1 cup
- Butter 5 oz
- Light Molasses ¼ cup
- Egg white 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a bowl, mix the flour, spices, baking soda, and salt.
Step 2
Chop the ginger with ¼ cup of sugar in a food processor. Then add the egg, molasses, butter, and remaining sugar and beat until creamy. Next, add the flour mixture and knead well. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 8 hours.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 320°F (320 degrees Fahrenheit). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 4
Divide the dough into 4 parts and take one, putting the rest back in the refrigerator. Roll out a quarter of the dough on a sheet of parchment paper and cut out circles with a cookie cutter. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator.
Step 5
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes. Then cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a plate.
Step 6
Repeat the same with the remaining parts of the dough.
Step 7
You can top the cookies with a sugar glaze.
