Flatbreads on the Grill with Za'atar

Ingredients

  • Water 10 fl oz
  • Za'atar 2 tablespoons
  • Wheat Flour 15 oz
  • Dry yeast 1 teaspoon
  • Coarse Salt 2 teaspoons
  • Olive Oil 5 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

In a small bowl, pour warm water and add the yeast. Stir and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Step 2

In another bowl, mix the flour and salt. Then add the yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix the dough well with a wooden spoon and place it on a floured surface. Knead well until the dough becomes elastic, about 6 minutes, lightly dusting with flour as needed.

Step 3

Grease a clean bowl with oil and place the dough inside. Turn it a few times to coat it well with oil, cover with plastic wrap or a towel, and let it rise for about 1.5 hours.

Step 4

Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 pieces, rolling them into balls. Roll each into a small oval, about 18x10 cm.

Step 5

Preheat the grill and place the flatbreads on it. Grill for 4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer to a board, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with za'atar. Serve warm or at room temperature.
