Finnish-Style Cucumbers for Winter
Ingredients
- Cucumbers 1½ kg
- Salt 3 spoons
- Sugar 5 oz
- Apple Cider Vinegar 10 fl oz
- Mustard Greens 1½ spoons
- Bay leaf 1 piece
- Water 1½ l
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Sterilize the jars and lids over steam for 20 minutes.
Step 3
Wash the cucumbers thoroughly and soak them in water for 2 hours.
Step 4
Slice the cucumbers into thick rounds.
Step 5
Pour water into a large pot, add salt, sugar, mustard, and bay leaf. Bring to a boil.
Step 6
Reduce the heat and pour in the apple cider vinegar.
Step 7
Place the cucumbers in the hot marinade and, stirring constantly, wait for the color to change.
Step 8
Transfer the cucumbers to sterilized jars and fill them with the marinade up to the neck. There is no need to add bay leaves to the jar.
Step 9
Seal the jars with lids, turn them upside down, and let them cool completely under a thick blanket.
Step 10
Store in a cool, dark place. Serve Finnish-style cucumbers with alcoholic beverages.
