Description

The pie will taste better if prepared in advance and stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 day. It can be stored for no more than 5 days.

Ingredients

  • Green Figs 15 oz
  • Water 15 fl oz
  • Irish Whiskey 5 fl oz
  • Vanilla extract 0 fl oz
  • Wheat Flour 10 oz
  • Baking Powder 0 oz
  • Salt 0 oz
  • Activated Baking Soda 0 oz
  • Ground Cinnamon 0 oz
  • Nutmeg 0 oz
  • Pecan 5 oz
  • Brown Sugar 15 oz
  • Vegetable Oil 10 fl oz
  • Farm fresh eggs 3 pieces

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Cook the dried figs over medium heat, covered, for about 35-40 minutes.

Step 2

When the figs become soft and absorb most of the liquid, place them in a food processor and puree with the whiskey and vanilla.

Step 3

Preheat the oven to 345°F (350 degrees Fahrenheit) and toast the nuts for 8-10 minutes. Once cooled, roughly chop the nuts.

Step 4

Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.

Step 5

Using a mixer on high speed, beat together the sugar, oil, and eggs until creamy (about 3 minutes).

Step 6

Add the fig puree to the egg mixture and mix on low speed until combined. Then, while the mixer is still running, gradually add the flour mixture and continue mixing until a dough forms.

Step 7

Fold the chopped nuts into the dough, mix well, pour into a baking dish, and bake for about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Step 8

Allow the pie to cool in the pan. Then, use a thin knife to separate the pie from the sides, cover with a plate, flip it over, gently remove from the pan, and flip it again onto a second plate.
