Ingredients
- Green Figs 0 lbs
- Sugar 10 oz
- Water 1 cup
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Thoroughly wash the ripe figs, dry them, and peel off the skin. Place the peeled figs in a deep bowl and mash them.
Step 2
In a saucepan, mix water and sugar, place over low heat, and bring to a boil. Add the figs and cook for about 1 hour over low heat, stirring occasionally.
Step 3
In Abkhazia, pastila is dried in the sun on a wooden board. If this method is not available, do the following: let the resulting puree cool slightly, spread it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and place it in an oven preheated to 210°F for 4-5 hours. Pastila can also be made in a dehydrator.
