Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Dry yeast 0 oz
- Salt 1 tablespoon
- Sugar 2 spoons
- Milk 5 fl oz
- Water 5 fl oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Semolina to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Gently warm the milk with water, then mix them in a bowl with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
Step 3
Melt the butter and mix it with the yeast mixture and the egg.
Step 4
Mix the flour with salt and gradually add the egg-yeast mixture, kneading the dough with a paddle attachment for 7–10 minutes.
Step 5
Transfer the dough to a bowl greased with vegetable oil, cover it with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and let it sit in a warm place for one hour.
Step 6
Carefully place the dough on a floured surface. Use your hands to spread the dough until it is about 1.2 inches thick.
Step 7
Cut out muffin bases using a culinary ring with a diameter of 7–8 cm.
Step 8
Line two baking trays with parchment paper and sprinkle with semolina. Place the muffins on the trays and sprinkle them with cornmeal as well. Cover the trays with parchment paper and set aside for 30 minutes.
Step 9
Heat a large skillet over low heat. Dust it with semolina and place several muffins in it. Cover with a lid and cook for 5 minutes.
Step 10
Flip the muffins and cook covered for another 5 minutes.
Step 11
Serve English muffins for breakfast.
