Ingredients
- Cilantro leaves to taste
- Red Lentils 1 cup
- Lemon 1 piece
- Potatoes 3 pieces
- Onion 1 piece
- Ground Allspice to taste
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric 1 teaspoon
- Ground Cumin 2 teaspoons
- Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon
- Garlic 6 cloves
- Water 5 cups
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a pot, pour in the water (or broth), add the lentils, onion (finely chopped), potatoes (cut into small cubes), and garlic (whole cloves). Cover with a lid and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat slightly and cook for 15-20 minutes, until the lentils and vegetables are tender.
Step 2
In a small frying pan, pour in the oil and heat it slightly. Then add the cumin, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Mix well for about 1 minute. Then add this mixture to the soup.
Step 3
Next, add the lemon juice and finely chopped cilantro. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.
