Drunken Pears with Spices
Ingredients
- Pears 3 pieces
- Water 30 fl oz
- Sugar 20 oz
- Citrus Zest Mix 1 piece
- Vanillin 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon 2 pieces
- Star anise 1 piece
- Ground clove 2 pieces
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Wash and peel the pears.
Step 2
In a pot over medium heat, bring the water to a boil with the sugar, vanilla, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. Once the sugar has dissolved, add the pears.
Step 3
Slightly reduce the heat and simmer for about 20 minutes until the pears are fully cooked (but not overcooked). Once the pears are ready, remove them along with the syrup and let cool for about 1–2 hours.
Step 4
Before serving, cut the pears in half and serve them with the syrup in which they were cooked.
