Donuts with rainbow glaze

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour 5 oz
  • Sugar 5 oz
  • Salt ½ spoons
  • Baking Powder 1 tablespoon
  • Activated Baking Soda ¼ spoons
  • Cardamom ¼ spoons
  • Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
  • Milk 5 fl oz
  • Chicken Egg 1 piece
  • Butter 5 oz
  • Vanilla extract 1 tablespoon
  • Meyer Lemon Juice 1 tablespoon
  • Powdered Sugar 10 oz
  • Water 2 spoons
  • Red Food Coloring to taste
  • Yellow Sugar to taste
  • Red Food Coloring to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Combine the sugar with the melted butter.

Step 2

Add a room temperature egg.

Step 3

Stir in the vegetable oil and vanilla extract.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and a pinch of cardamom.

Step 5

Combine half of the dry ingredients with the wet ones. Add milk and lemon juice.

Step 6

Add the remaining dry ingredients to the dough. Mix until smooth.

Step 7

Grease the donut pan with vegetable oil.

Step 8

Transfer the prepared dough into a piping bag and fill the mold.

Step 9

Bake the donuts for 7–10 minutes at 430°F. The finished donuts should spring back slightly when touched.

Step 10

Remove the donuts from the mold and cool them on a wire rack.

Step 11

While the donuts are cooling, prepare the glaze. Start by mixing powdered sugar with water, and once the mixture is smooth, add a couple of drops of white food coloring. The white food coloring is needed to make the mixture brighter and more opaque.

Step 12

Add food coloring to the prepared glaze, just 1-2 drops at a time, and dip each donut into it one by one.

Step 13

If desired, you can decorate the donuts with pastry sprinkles. Leave the donuts on a wire rack for 10 minutes to allow the glaze to set.
