Description
Devil's Food Cake with Chocolate Ganache
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Cocoa Powder 0 oz
- Salt ¼ teaspoon
- Water 10 fl oz
- Activated Baking Soda 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable Oil 5 fl oz
- Vinegar essence 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla salt to taste
- Instant coffee 1 teaspoon
- Heavy cream 5 fl oz
- Bittersweet Chocolate 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients, making sure to sift them. Whisk together. In a separate bowl, combine the water, coffee, oil, and vinegar. Add to the dry ingredients. Mix quickly. Add vanilla.
Step 2
Pour the batter into a 16–18 cm diameter cake pan. Grease the pan with butter or vegetable oil beforehand. Line the bottom with parchment paper. Tap the pan lightly on the table to spread the batter evenly. Bake at 345°F for about 40–45 minutes. Be sure to check; a toothpick should come out clean, but do not overbake.
Step 3
For the ganache, bring the cream to a boil, remove from heat, and add the chocolate pieces. Preferably good quality! Let it sit for 5 seconds, then stir.
Step 4
Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Place in the refrigerator until completely cooled. Optionally, you can add rum or cognac to the ganache.
Step 5
Allow the finished cake layer to cool completely. Whip the ganache with a mixer to make it fluffier. Cover the cake with it. Decorate to your liking.
