Crispy Pickled Cucumbers
Ingredients
- Cucumbers 5 lbs
- Water 5 qt
- Salt 6 tablespoons
- Sugar 8 tablespoons
- 9% Vinegar 10 fl oz
- Garlic 18 cloves
- Bay leaf 12 pieces
- Ground clove 12 pieces
- Allspice berries 6 pieces
- Mustard Greens 6 teaspoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Wash the cucumbers and trim both ends.
Step 3
Prepare the brine. In a saucepan, mix water, salt, sugar, and vinegar. Bring to a boil.
Step 4
Pour the brine over the cucumbers.
Step 5
Sterilize the jars over steam for 15–20 minutes.
Step 6
In each jar, place 3 cloves of garlic, 2 bay leaves, 2 cloves, 2 allspice berries, 1 teaspoon of peppercorns, and 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds.
Step 7
When the cucumbers change color, place them in the sterilized jars.
Step 8
Pour the brine over them.
Step 9
Seal the jars with sterilized lids, turn them upside down, and cover with a blanket. The next day, you can remove the blanket.
Step 10
The pickled cucumbers can be eaten after a month.
