Cranberry Crisp
Baking and Desserts • American
Description
This pie is both a classic American dessert and a nod to the sweetened cranberries that Emily loved in her childhood—and still enjoys to this day.
Ingredients
- Cranberry 4 glasses
- Apple juice with pulp ¾ glasses
- Apple 1 piece
- Wheat Flour 1 glass
- Sugar 1 glass
- Brown Sugar 1½ glasses
- Butter 5 oz
- Salt ½ spoons
- Ground Oats 2 glasses
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Peel the large apple and slice it thinly. Place the berries in a deep skillet and set it over high heat. Quickly mix the cranberries with a cup of regular white sugar and the apple slices.
Step 2
Pour everything with freshly squeezed apple juice, bring to a boil, and simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened — about twenty minutes. All the berries should burst during this time and release their juices.
Step 3
Quickly mix the flour, brown sugar, diced butter, oats, and salt by hand until you achieve a coarse crumb.
Step 4
Divide the dough in half. Press one half into a round 28 cm (11 inch) baking pan, spreading it evenly over the bottom and sides. Add the cranberry filling to the pan, sprinkle with the remaining crumbs, and gently press down.
Step 5
Place the crisp in a preheated oven at 355°F for one hour. Serve cold.
