Cottage Cheese Donuts Dusted with Powdered Sugar
Baking and Desserts • Georgian
Description
For frying, use refined and deodorized olive oil with a neutral taste and aroma. If you don't have that on hand, you can also use refined sunflower oil, which has no seed scent.
Ingredients
- Cottage cheese 10 oz
- Chicken Egg 3 pieces
- Wheat Flour 8 teaspoons
- Sugar 3 spoons
- Salt ½ spoons
- Olive Oil to taste
- Activated Baking Soda ½ spoons
- Powdered Sugar to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a dry, clean bowl, place the cottage cheese, add the eggs, flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt, and gently mix everything together with a spatula or wooden spoon until smooth and well combined.
Step 2
Pour olive (or vegetable) oil into a small saucepan—enough to submerge at least half of the doughnut. Heat the oil well.
Step 3
Using a teaspoon or your hands, roll the dough into balls, each slightly smaller than a walnut. To prevent the dough from sticking to your hands, you can periodically dip them in flour.
Step 4
Drop the donuts into the hot oil and fry over medium heat, constantly turning them with a slotted spoon to ensure they brown evenly on all sides and develop a beautiful golden-brown color.
Step 5
Place the finished donuts on a paper towel and let them sit for one to two minutes to absorb any excess oil. Serve the donuts warm, arranged on a plate and dusted with powdered sugar mixed with vanillin.
