Cottage Cheese Cookies
Baking and Desserts • American
Description
Like any beloved recipe, this one has many beautiful names: 'Kisses', 'Goose Feet', 'Pythagorean Pants', 'Letters of Happiness', 'Cat Ears'. During the Soviet era, cottage cheese cookies were extremely popular because they required no scarce ingredients and turned out airy and wonderfully tender. Moreover, making them is a piece of cake, which is why such cookies were often baked by diligent schoolchildren as gifts for their mothers and teachers on March 8th. Overall, it's not just a dessert but a sweet childhood memory. Fortunately, unlike childhood, it can be made again and again.
Ingredients
- Margarine 5 oz
- Cottage cheese 5 oz
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Chop the margarine and cottage cheese until you achieve a smooth mixture.
Step 2
Add an egg and flour, then knead a soft dough that doesn't stick to your hands. Regarding the flour and its quantity: it varies each time, depending on the consistency of the cottage cheese. If the cottage cheese is soft, use a bit more. The dough should be pliable and not stick to your hands. Place the dough in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
Step 3
After an hour, remove the prepared dough and roll it out into a sheet about 2–3 mm thick, then cut out circles (you can use a juice glass for this).
Step 4
Coat one side of the resulting circle in sugar.
Step 5
Fold in half twice with the sugar side facing out; this will create a triangle.
Step 6
Place the cookies in the oven at a temperature of 180–390°F for 10–15 minutes.
