Cold Vanilla Cream
Baking and Desserts • French
Description
Based on this recipe, you can also prepare chocolate or coffee cream. For chocolate, dissolve cocoa in a small amount of milk (1 tablespoon per serving). For coffee, dissolve instant coffee in a small amount of water and add it to the mixture (1 teaspoon per serving). These mixtures should be added to the cream before pouring it into molds. This cream can be stored in the refrigerator for at least a day. Before serving, it can be decorated to taste and served with cookies for tea or coffee at breakfast.
Ingredients
- Milk 15 fl oz
- Vanilla salt 1 piece
- Egg white 2 pieces
- Whole egg 6 pieces
- Sour Cream 20 oz
- Powdered Sugar 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Pour the milk into a large saucepan and place it on the heat. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise, lightly crush it with a knife, and add it to the milk. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and set aside.
Step 2
Whisk the eggs and egg yolks together with the powdered sugar until smooth. Add the sour cream and whisk again. Pour into the milk, removing the vanilla pod from the saucepan beforehand.
Step 3
Return the saucepan to the stove and over low heat, stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a thick consistency (this may take about 10–15 minutes). Pour the finished cream into molds and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
