Description

A very delicious three-layer dessert originating from Canada. The preparation process is quite simple, although it requires time. However, the taste of the chilled 'Nanaimo' bars (named after a city in Canada) is undoubtedly worth it. Since this dessert freezes well, it can be made in advance. Moreover, the cooler these bars are, the tastier they become.

Ingredients

  • Butter 10 oz
  • Sugar ¼ cup
  • Cocoa Powder 5 tablespoons
  • Chopped almonds 0 oz
  • Cookie 10 oz
  • Egg white 1 piece
  • Cream 3 tablespoons
  • Milk 2 tablespoons
  • Liquid dark chocolate 5 oz
  • Desiccated coconut 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract 2 teaspoons
  • Powdered Sugar 2 cups

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

In a saucepan, heat 120 grams of butter with cocoa powder and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Meanwhile, crush the cookies into fine crumbs and then grind the almonds into flour. Add the cookie crumbs and almonds to the chocolate-butter mixture, add the shredded coconut, and beat in the egg.

Step 2

Line a 20x20 cm rectangular baking dish with parchment paper and pour in the chocolate mixture.

Step 3

Use a spatula to evenly spread it across the surface. Place it in the refrigerator for a while.

Step 4

In the meantime, beat 120 grams of butter, powdered sugar, cream, dry milk, and vanilla in a mixing bowl until smooth; spread it over the chocolate layer, smooth it out, and place it in the refrigerator.

Step 5

Melt the remaining butter and chocolate in a double boiler. Pour it over the vanilla layer.

Step 6

Leave the finished dessert in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. Cut into squares and serve.
