Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
For the cake, we need eggs and room temperature butter, so make sure to take them out of the fridge in advance or warm the butter in the microwave for 4 minutes at 10% power.
Step 2
Beat the butter with a mixer for 5 minutes until it turns pale.
Step 3
Add the sugar and continue beating for another 10 minutes.
Step 4
Crack the eggs into a separate bowl and gradually add them, one spoonful at a time, to the butter-sugar mixture while continuing to beat. Whip for about 15 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. The butter-egg mixture should be silky, smooth, and very delicate.
Step 5
Sift the flour and starch. Add the sifted mixture of flour and starch to the batter and mix for 20–30 seconds.
Step 6
Grease the pan with butter and pour in the batter, filling it halfway.
Step 7
Bake at 355°F for 50 minutes.
