Ingredients
- Star anise 4 pieces
- Sugar ¼ cup
- Grapefruits 3 pieces
- Oranges 2 pieces
- Red Grape Juice ¼ ml
- Water ¼ cup
- Orange bitters 4 teaspoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a very small saucepan, combine water and sugar, add 4 star anise (or 1 teaspoon of seeds) and place over medium heat. Once boiling, cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Step 2
Peel the orange and grapefruit segments (1 yellow, 1 red, 1 pink) from the membranes, cut into pieces, pour over the cooled anise syrup, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Step 3
Before serving, add a mixture of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and orange liqueur to the salad, mix, divide into portions, and garnish with star anise cooked in syrup.
