Cinnamon and Apple Rolls

Ingredients

  • Unleavened dough 20 oz
  • Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
  • Apple 2 pieces
  • Ground Nutmeg a pinch
  • Citrus Zest Mix 1 teaspoon
  • Water 15 fl oz
  • Sugar 3 tablespoons
  • Meyer Lemon Juice 2 tablespoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Cut the apples in half and remove the core. Slice them thinly (depending on the size of the apple, about 40 slices per apple on average).

Step 2

Make the syrup: mix the sugar (3 tablespoons) and lemon juice in water. Bring to a boil.

Step 3

Stir in the apple slices for a couple of minutes. Remove them. Place on a paper towel to drain excess liquid.

Step 4

Mix the sugar (5 tablespoons), cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add the lemon zest and mix again. Roll out the dough and evenly sprinkle this mixture over it.

Step 5

Cut the dough into strips (about 4 cm wide), and place the apple slices (4 slices fit per strip).

Step 6

Roll the strips into spirals. Wet the ends to prevent them from unrolling in the oven.

Step 7

Place the future rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20–25 minutes at 390°F.
