Christmas Plum Pudding
Ingredients
- Butter 10 oz
- Light Molasses 5 oz
- Milk ½ cup
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Activated Baking Soda 1 teaspoon
- Ground Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
- Prunes 20 oz
- Brandy 5 fl oz
- Raisins 5 oz
- Sugar 0.6 cups
- Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
- Ground clove a pinch
- Powdered Sugar 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In one bowl, mix molasses, butter (175 g), milk, and eggs, and in another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Gradually combine the contents of both bowls in three additions, adding the dry mixture to the wet.
Step 2
Lightly coat prunes and raisins in flour and add to the batter. Mix in the brandy.
Step 3
Place the mixture in a pudding mold and steam for 2 hours, ensuring that the water reaches halfway up the sides of the pudding mold.
Step 4
For the sauce, thoroughly mix butter (125 g), sugar (150 g), a pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a shot of brandy (30 g) using a mixer.
Step 5
Allow the pudding to cool for 5 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar. Serve with vanilla sauce.
