Christmas Kalach
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 0 lbs
- Milk 10 fl oz
- Whole egg 10 pieces
- Sugar 10 fl oz
- Butter 15 oz
- Salt ¾ teaspoon
- Nuts 5 oz
- Light Raisins, Seedless 10 oz
- Dry yeast 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Add yeast and half of the flour to warm milk.
Step 2
Beat the yolks with sugar until pale and add softened butter, mixing well.
Step 3
Combine everything and add the remaining flour.
Step 4
Knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands. Punch it 300 times.
Step 5
Add raisins and nuts to the dough. Knead well again and place in a warm spot.
Step 6
Let it rise, then knead again.
Step 7
Roll out slightly and twist into a rope.
Step 8
Place in a mold or on a baking sheet in the shape of a kalach.
Step 9
Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Step 10
Brush with beaten egg white and sprinkle with nuts.
Step 11
Bake for 40–50 minutes.
