Chocolate Strawberry Cake
Ingredients
- Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
- Butter 6 tablespoons
- Bittersweet Chocolate 5 oz
- Crushed Vanilla Wafers 5 oz
- Strawberry 20 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Corn Starch 0 oz
- Cocoa Powder 2 tablespoons
- Grated Ginger Root ¼ teaspoon
- Ground Nutmeg 0.1 teaspoons
- Salt a pinch
- Egg white 6 pieces
- Milk 15 fl oz
- Bourbon ½ tablespoon
- Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
For the base, melt the butter and 30 grams of chocolate. Crush the wafers in a blender and mix them with the chocolate-butter mixture. Spread the mixture in a greased form with vegetable oil, shape the edges, and freeze for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Cut the strawberries in half. Place them on the hardened base.
Step 3
For the filling, mix the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder, spices, and salt in a saucepan. Add the egg yolks and stir until smooth.
Step 4
Gradually pour in the milk. Place the mixture over medium heat, whisking until it thickens and let it simmer for 1 minute.
Step 5
Remove the mixture from the heat, add the chocolate, and stir until it melts. Add the vanilla extract and bourbon, and mix. Cool for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 6
Pour the filling to the edge of the base. The filling may not be used entirely. Leftovers can be served as a sauce.
Step 7
Place in the cold for 2–24 hours to set. Serve with whipped cream.
