Chocolate-Nut Cake with Cookies 'Dualism'
Baking and Desserts • Russian
Description
No one will guess that you didn't bake the layers. In fact, they won't even realize this is your creation.
Ingredients
- Shortbread Cookies 20 oz
- 10% cream 15 fl oz
- Sweetened Condensed Milk with Coffee 2 cans
- Nuts 5 oz
- Bananas 4 pieces
- Chocolate 5 oz
- Vanilla salt a pinch
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Whip the cream with a mixer until it reaches a creamy consistency.
Step 2
Add a couple of tablespoons of the sweetened condensed milk to the cream while continuing to whip. At the end, add the vanilla. This will create a very tasty cream. Put it in the refrigerator so you don't eat it all.
Step 3
Peel the bananas and slice them into rings, 2–4 mm thick.
Step 4
Assemble the cake. Place a layer of cookies evenly on the bottom of a square plate, side by side. Carefully spread a layer of cream on top of the cookies. Place the banana slices on the cream. Then add another layer of cookies. IMPORTANT! The cookies should be placed like a brick pattern, meaning that in the next layer, the cookies should be placed over the joints of the cookies in the previous layer. Otherwise, the cake will fall apart.
Step 5
Sprinkle ground nuts over the second layer of cream. I used pine nuts, which I toasted in a dry skillet and ground in a food processor to a coarse crumb. You can use any nuts.
Step 6
Repeat with cookies, cream, and bananas. I ended up with 5 layers of cookies. Spread the remaining cream on top and cover the sides of the cake with it, then place it in the refrigerator for 5 minutes.
Step 7
In the meantime, grate the chocolate on a coarse grater. And make a stencil out of paper. (My kids did this and were happy)
Step 8
Take the cake out. Apply the stencil. Sprinkle half of the cake with grated nuts and the other half with chocolate, just like in the picture.
Step 9
And refrigerate for 2 days. I made it in the evening, and the cake sat overnight + a day + overnight. The next day we ate it. The cookies soak up the cream and become extraordinarily tender and delicious.
