Chocolate cake with glaze and candies
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
- Sour Cream 5 oz
- Salted Butter 10 oz
- Cocoa Powder 3 tablespoons
- Farm fresh eggs 2 pieces
- Bittersweet Chocolate 5 oz
- Sour Cream 5 oz
- Powdered Sugar 5 oz
- Activated Baking Soda a pinch
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
The first step is to prepare the cake layers, which are the base of the chocolate cake. For this, you will need to mix the following ingredients using a mixer or a regular whisk: 200 g of all-purpose flour, 200 g of granulated sugar, half a teaspoon of baking soda, 150 g of low-fat sour cream, and 150 g of unsalted butter. The butter should be soft, making it easier to combine with the other ingredients. Additionally, add 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 raw eggs, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
Step 2
Transfer the mixture into two 20 cm diameter baking pans and place them in an oven preheated to 355°F for 30 minutes.
Step 3
The next component of the cake is the chocolate glaze. For this, you will need to melt 175 g of semisweet chocolate (60% cocoa content) and 75 g of butter in a water bath.
Step 4
Mix all the components well and let the mixture cool.
Step 5
Next, combine 200 g of powdered sugar with 125 g of heavy sour cream and add the resulting mixture to the previously cooled chocolate to prevent the sour cream from curdling. Gently mix everything by hand using a whisk or a silicone spatula.
Step 6
Spread 1/3 of the chocolate glaze between the cake layers, and use the remaining part on top, spreading it across the entire surface and sides of the cake. While the glaze is still soft, decorate the cake with chocolate candies like Maltesers.
