Prepare all the ingredients. Wash and dry the cherries.

Remove the stems from the cherries and pit them using a metal straw, a pin, or a special pitting tool.

Transfer the cherries to a pot, sprinkle with sugar, and let sit for 2 hours.

Place the pot over low heat, bring the mixture to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes, skimming off any foam that forms.

Remove the pot from the heat and allow the jam to cool.
