Cheese-Filled Buns

Ingredients

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon
  • Wheat Flour 4 cups
  • Dry yeast 2½ teaspoons
  • Salt 1½ teaspoons
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Milk 2 tablespoons
  • Egg white 1 piece
  • Semi-soft cream cheese 5 oz
  • Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
  • Water ¼ cup
  • Powdered Sugar 0 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Sift the flour into a bowl, add salt and sugar, mix everything together, then add the matured sponge, melted and cooled butter or margarine (to 35–105°F), and knead until you have a homogeneous, soft, and elastic dough.

Step 2

Shape the well-kneaded dough into a ball, place it in a floured bowl, cover it with a light towel, and leave it in a warm place for one hour. During this time, the dough should rise and increase in volume by one and a half to two times.

Step 3

Once the dough has risen, transfer it to a work surface and divide it into 8–10 equal parts.

Step 4

Roll each part into a small circle. Then, place small pieces of cheese in the center and pinch the edges of the circle towards the center to form a round bun with cheese filling inside.

Step 5

Transfer the formed buns seam-side down onto a greased baking sheet and leave them in a warm place for 20–25 minutes.

Step 6

Beat the egg yolk with a tablespoon of milk. Gently brush the tops of the buns with the resulting glaze.

Step 7

Bake the buns in a preheated oven at 355°F for about 15–20 minutes.

Step 8

Transfer the finished buns to a wire rack and let them cool slightly.
