Description
Cheddar Rolls
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 2 cups
- Sugar 1 teaspoon
- Salt ¾ teaspoon
- Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
- Kefir 1 cup
- Activated Baking Soda ½ teaspoon
- Butter 5 oz
- Cheshire Cheese 1 cup
- Cayenne Pepper ¼ teaspoon
- Garlic chips 1 teaspoon
- Chopped Sage Leaves 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 390°F.
Step 2
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with vegetable oil.
Step 3
Crumble the cheddar cheese with your fingers or grate it on a coarse grater.
Step 4
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, cayenne pepper, and 0.5 teaspoon of garlic powder. Stir in the cheddar cheese and set the bowl aside.
Step 5
In a small bowl, add melted butter (115 g) to the cold kefir and mix well — the butter will solidify into small flakes.
Step 6
Add the kefir mixture to the flour mixture and gently stir with a silicone spatula to combine the ingredients, but do not overmix.
Step 7
To make evenly sized rolls, scoop the mixture with a greased tablespoon. Leave about 3 cm between the rolls.
Step 8
Bake for 12–14 minutes until a light brown crust forms.
Step 9
Meanwhile, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, add a pinch of salt, parsley (dried is fine), and 0.5 teaspoon of garlic powder.
Step 10
Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush them with the spiced butter, allowing them to cool for 5 minutes. Serve warm.
