Charoset with Caramelized Walnuts

Ingredients

  • Sugar ¼ cup
  • Ground Cinnamon 1½ teaspoons
  • Walnuts 5 oz
  • Vegetable Oil 4 cups
  • Apple 2 pieces
  • Red Grape Juice 0.3 cups

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the sugar and 0.5 teaspoons of cinnamon.

Step 3

In a deep skillet, heat the oil over high heat to 355°F. Add the walnut halves and fry until golden brown for 30 seconds (make sure they don't burn). Quickly transfer them to the bowl with the sugar-cinnamon mixture using a slotted spoon. Mix well and spread in an even layer on the baking sheet. Cool for 15 minutes and chop lightly.

Step 4

In a large bowl, combine the walnuts, remaining cinnamon, peeled and diced apples, and wine. Mix, cover, and let sit at room temperature until serving.
