Ingredients
- Onion 2 heads
- Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon
- Garlic 1 clove
- Grated Ginger Root 2 teaspoons
- Ground coriander 1 tablespoon
- Ground ancho chili pepper 1 piece
- Ground Cumin 2 teaspoons
- Cayenne Pepper ½ teaspoon
- Turmeric 1 teaspoon
- Toasted Cumin Seeds 2 teaspoons
- Amchur 1 tablespoon
- Paprika 2 teaspoons
- Garam Masala 1 teaspoon
- Water 0.6 cups
- Chickpea 15 oz
- Salt ½ teaspoon
- Lemon ½ piece
- Tomatoes 4 pieces
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet and add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, ginger, and chopped chili. Sauté over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are browned.
Step 2
Reduce the heat and add the ground coriander, cumin, cayenne pepper, turmeric, slightly crushed cumin seeds, amchur, paprika, and garam masala. Sauté, stirring, for 1-2 minutes and add the finely chopped tomatoes. Then pour in the water and add the chickpeas. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, then add salt and lemon juice.
