Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Step 2 Image

Step 2

Whisk the eggs with salt and baking soda.

Step 3 Image

Step 3

On a work surface, mound the flour and make a well in the center. Gradually add the eggs into the well and knead the dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Step 4 Image

Step 4

Roll out the dough into thin sheets and let them dry slightly.

Step 5 Image

Step 5

Cut each sheet of dough into strips 5 cm wide, and then cut those strips into thin julienne.

Step 6 Image

Step 6

Spread the prepared noodles out on the countertop and let them dry while the oil is heating up.

Step 7 Image

Step 7

Fry the noodles in small batches in boiling vegetable oil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove the fried noodles and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Step 8 Image

Step 8

In a dry, heavy-bottomed pot, melt the sugar with honey, bring to a boil, and let it simmer for a couple of minutes while stirring gently.

Step 9 Image

Step 9

Pour the hot honey syrup over the noodles and gently toss to combine.

Step 10 Image

Step 10

When the syrup has cooled slightly, moisten your hands with cold water and shape the chak-chak into any form; traditionally, it is made into a mound.
