
Carrot Halwa with Cashews (Gajjar Halwa)

Description
Halwa can be stored in the refrigerator and served either warm or chilled.
Ingredients
- Carrot 0 lbs
- Milk 0 qt
- Macadamia Nuts 5 oz
- Sugar 2 cups
- Raisins 5 oz
- Butter 5 oz
- Cardamom 7 pieces
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Heat the milk with cardamom.
Step 2
Wash the carrots, peel them, and grate them coarsely.
Step 3
When the milk boils, add the grated carrots, and cook on low heat (with a diffuser) for about an hour, then add sugar and cook, stirring thoroughly (to prevent burning), until thickened for another 1 to 1.5 hours.
Step 4
Add the butter and, stirring well, wait for it to be absorbed into the halwa.
Step 5
When serving, add raisins and/or cashews.
