Calzone with Ham and Cheese in Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • Ham 10 oz
  • Dry yeast 2½ teaspoons
  • Green pickled tomatoes 30 oz
  • Ground Black Pepper ½ teaspoon
  • Wheat Flour 4 cups
  • Melted Cheese 10 oz
  • Olive Oil 3 tablespoons
  • Parmesan Cheese 0 oz
  • Ricotta cheese 15 oz
  • Water 1½ cups
  • Thyme to taste
  • Garlic 2 cloves
  • Whole egg 1 piece
  • Garlic chips 1 teaspoon
  • Salt 2 teaspoons
  • Parsley to taste
  • Basil to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Mix the flour, yeast, and 1.5 teaspoons of salt in a large bowl. Knead the dough, gradually adding warm water and olive oil. Leave in a warm place for one and a half to two hours, greasing the surface with a small amount of olive oil.

Step 2

Now let's make the filling. Mix the cheese, egg yolk, garlic powder, half a teaspoon of salt, and pepper. Stir well.

Step 3

Now let's prepare the sauce. Sauté finely chopped onion in oil. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes translucent and slightly golden. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. Blend the tomatoes and add them to the onion. Cook for 20 minutes covered. Add herbs, salt, and pepper. If it turns out too watery, you can simmer it for another 5 minutes.

Step 4

Now let's work on the dough. Divide it into 6 parts. Roll out each piece and then place the cheese mixture on top. Cut the ham into small cubes and sprinkle it over the cheese. Pinch the edges to seal.

Step 5

Brush with a small amount of olive oil, make small cuts on top. Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and dried herbs to taste. Bake for 20 minutes at maximum temperature. Serve with the sauce!
