Description
Bread pudding with dark chocolate, pepper, and cinnamon
Ingredients
- Butter 1½ tablespoons
- Heavy cream ⅓ cup
- Liquid dark chocolate 0 oz
- Sugar 1½ teaspoons
- Vanilla salt ½ teaspoon
- Ground Cinnamon ¼ teaspoon
- Cayenne Pepper 0.1 teaspoons
- White bread 5 oz
- Egg white 1 piece
- Salt a pinch
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut two large slices of white sandwich bread into cubes (2 cm), removing the crusts first.
Step 2
Lightly beat 1 egg with a fork.
Step 3
In a small saucepan (1.5 liters), combine the cream, sugar, chocolate, 1 tablespoon of butter, spices, and place over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly. When the chocolate melts, leave on the heat for another 1-2 minutes, continuing to stir.
Step 4
Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat, add the beaten egg, and stir until smooth.
Step 5
Soak the bread cubes in the chocolate mixture and let sit for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Fill a greased baking ramekin with the bread-chocolate mixture. Bake in an oven preheated to 375°F for 15-20 minutes. Remove the pudding from the oven when it starts to puff up, the edges are crusted, and the center is slightly moist.
Step 7
Before serving, let the pudding cool slightly (5 minutes) at room temperature.
