Description
Bread cake is a base layer, a semi-finished product. You can create a real cake by layering the bases with various creams. In the 19th century, baking with all sorts of breadcrumbs was popular. Many similar recipes are described by common American authors, including a charlotte, which is now prepared differently.
Ingredients
- Breadcrumbs 2 spoons
- Chicken Egg 8 pieces
- Sugar 5 oz
- Cocoa Powder 1 tablespoon
- Spices ½ spoons
- Butter 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Separate the egg whites from the yolks.
Step 2
Whisk the egg yolks with half of the sugar until they form a pale foam.
Step 3
Add the breadcrumbs and mix well.
Step 4
Sift the cocoa through a sieve into the bowl with the egg yolk mixture, add the spices, and mix again.
Step 5
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with the remaining sugar until stiff peaks form.
Step 6
Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the egg yolks using a spatula, moving from the bottom up.
Step 7
Grease the baking dish with butter.
Step 8
Place the dough in the baking pan.
Step 9
Bake in an oven preheated to 285°F for 2 hours.
Step 10
Allow the finished bread cake to cool completely before serving.
