Berry Tartlets
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 2 cups
- Butter 5 oz
- Sugar ¾ cup
- Egg white 2 pieces
- Vanillin ¼ teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Mix the flour and sugar, add the butter or margarine in pieces, the eggs (reserve the egg white from one egg for brushing), vanillin or finely grated lemon zest, and knead the dough. Roll the dough into a ball, cover it, and let it rest in a cool place for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Step 2
Roll out the dough to a thickness of ½ cm, cut out circles slightly larger than the metal tartlet molds. Place a circle of dough onto the mold and press down, then trim the edges. Transfer the molds with the dough to a baking sheet or pan and place in the oven to bake for 12–15 minutes.
Step 3
Remove the finished tartlets from the molds by inverting them, then fill them with berries — strawberries, raspberries, or grapes, and spoon hot jam over the top. The tartlets can be garnished with chopped nuts or lightly toasted almonds.
